The National Stadium promenade gets extra finish
In 2012, our company was commissioned to shine National Stadium’s promenade before EURO 2012’s opening. The promenade’s concrete slab had previously been surface-hardened and impregnated with sodium silicate. Our task was to clean the floor and increase its gloss. When applied correctly, sodium silicates form a thin layer on the concrete surface. The hardness of this layer on the Mohs scale is approximately 7-8. Aggressively cleaning or polishing concrete with a black pad makes the layer smoother, resulting in a more even reflection of light from the surface. This explains the advertising slogan, “The older, the better.” A few years after completing the project, we returned to the stadium for a match of our national team and were satisfied to see that the concrete slab still looked great.
