Silicate efflorescence – removal from concrete flooring

Silicate impregnation is a common method of preserving new industrial floors. Unfortunately, in many cases, this treatment is performed before a concrete curing sheet is applied, resulting in unsightly salt efflorescence on the surface of the floor. In 2020, we received an order to enhance the appearance of the floor in the new warehouse of the Alventa chemical plant in Alwernia. First, a cleaning company thoroughly cleaned the floor. In such cases, only concrete polishing using NORTEC® technology can remove salt efflorescence and improve the visual appearance of the finish. The scope of work included concrete polishing in the main hall using NORTEC® technology. In hall no. 2, the floor was cleaned and impregnated with NORTEC® DENSE N sodium silicate.
The resulting floor finish was accepted by the plant management with satisfaction. We also provided floor maintenance instructions and 20 litres of the NORTEC® CLEAN concrete cleaning system. This cleaning agent will help to keep the floor clean and looking its best.
