Adapting a rolled concrete (RCC) floor to the requirements of a renewable energy investor
This project presented a unique challenge due to the type of subgrade, which is rarely found in Poland – rolled concrete. This solution, popular in Germany, involves laying a moist mixture in layers and compacting it with a vibrating roller. Probeton’s goal was a complete transformation of this technical surface for the needs of the new owner—a market leader in custom solar panels.
The Challenge: From Raw Substrate to Eco-Friendly Standard
The new investor was looking for a finish that would combine modern aesthetics with the strict requirements of sustainable construction. The key expectations were:
- Smoothness and safety: A surface that is easy to keep clean and safe for employees.
- Renovation of structural elements: The need to repair cracks, linear drainage channels, and damaged expansion joints.
- Sustainable development: The use of low-carbon technologies.
Solution: Polished concrete with a satin finish
Our concrete grinding and polishing technology was a perfect fit for the project’s requirements. We chose a satin finish, which provides:
- Subtle sheen: Enhances interior lighting while preserving the industrial character.
- NORTEC® Durability: Deep impregnation has reinforced the porous rolled concrete, making it resistant to dusting and the penetration of dirt.
- Structural repairs: The precise restoration of the expansion joints and the repair of the drainage channels have restored the hall to full functionality.
Result: A floor ready for green energy
By using mechanical methods and eco-friendly construction chemicals, we delivered a floor that aligns with the investor’s brand philosophy. The facility has been fully prepared for the production of modern photovoltaic systems.
