Comprehensive renovation of a concrete floor in a logistics center – elimination of dust and structural reinforcement

In logistics centers, the flooring is subjected to extreme stress. For our client in the TSL sector, we carried out a renovation of the flooring, which had lost its original durability, begun to generate dust, and made it difficult to keep the facility clean.

Challenge: Concrete dust, cracks, and heavy forklift traffic

The main problem at this logistics center was the ongoing dusting of concrete, which settled on stored goods and racking systems. In addition, the floor required repairs to cracks across its entire surface and reinforcement in areas of heavy forklift traffic, where traditional coatings had worn away.

Solution: NORTEC^® technology for logistics

Instead of temporary coatings, we proposed a comprehensive renovation using NORTEC^® technology, which altered the concrete’s structure at the molecular level. The process included:

Mechanical concrete grinding: Removal of the weakened surface layer and opening of the concrete pores.
Injection impregnation with colloidal silica: Deep hardening of the substrate, which permanently stopped the dusting process.
Diamond polishing: Giving the floor a high degree of smoothness, which reduces the accumulation of dirt and tire marks.

Result: A durable and safe warehouse floor

Thanks to the renovation, the logistics center now features a floor with enhanced abrasion resistance and significantly improved slip resistance. The renovated floor reflects more light, which has improved visibility in the warehouse aisles and reduced electricity costs.
