Floor restoration at Leroy Merlin – removal of PVC tiles and concrete polishing with NORTEC®
In 2019, we undertook the ambitious task of renovating the flooring at the Leroy Merlin in Sosnowiec. Many older-generation retail facilities still struggle with problematic vinyl (PVC) tile floors. Their progressive deterioration generates high maintenance costs and lowers the visual standard of the facility. The solution we implemented was a complete transformation of the flooring into a NORTEC® polished concrete system.
The Challenge: Renovating 3,000 square meters in the heart of a busy supermarket
We carried out the renovation work at night to ensure that business could continue uninterrupted during the day. The key challenges were logistics and safety—each night required close coordination with the renovation crews and store staff. The process included:
- Removal and disposal of PVC tiles: Efficient removal of old vinyl flooring.
- Grinding away adhesive residue: Mechanical removal of aggressive bonding agents from a concrete slab.
- Structural repairs: Filling thousands of holes left by shelving anchors and professional restoration of expansion joints.
- Diamond polishing: Giving the concrete its final shine and hardness.
