Polishing concrete floors in exhibition halls – aesthetics and resistance to tough stains

Exhibition halls and trade fair venues are spaces with unique requirements. The flooring there must withstand not only extremely heavy foot traffic, but also the installation of heavy structures and specific types of contamination. While standard mineral-hardened floors provide a solid foundation, it is only  professional concrete polishing that ensures their durability and a look befitting modern convention centers.

The Challenge: Kraków and the Unique Characteristics of the Events Industry

The management of the exhibition halls in Kraków was looking for a solution to improve the finish of surface-hardened concrete (DST). The trade show industry presents a number of challenges that quickly damage traditional flooring:
  • Tough stains: Stains from coffee, wine, energy drinks, and tire marks.
  • Installation residue: Stubborn marks left by adhesive tape and assembly adhesives.
  • Mechanical damage: Impacts from metal equipment crates and heavy-duty work during booth construction.

Solution: Polished concrete as a protective barrier

We performed a multi-stage concrete polishing process that sealed the floor’s structure at the microscopic level. Thanks to the  NORTEC® system, the surface gained:
  1. Rich color and gloss: Enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the building.
  2. Water-repellent barrier: Significantly reduces liquid absorption and makes it easier to remove adhesive tape.
  3. Increased hardness: Scratch and abrasion resistance in high-traffic hallways.

Result: Easier operation and a prestigious appearance

Our polished concrete finish enabled the facility operator in Krakow to drastically reduce the time needed to clean the halls between events. The floor has become the facility’s showpiece, combining the raw durability of concrete with an elegant showroom-style finish.
