NORTEC® Polished Concrete in Sustainable Architecture – A Project at the Environmental Education Center
In 2020, Probeton had the honor of helping to create the interiors of the Center for Environmental Education, designed by the renowned studio Konior Studio. The building, a manifesto of harmony between tradition and modernity, required a floor that would be as natural as it was durable. The choice of the NORTEC® was a natural consequence of the project’s eco-friendly principles.
Environmental sustainability backed by certifications
In sustainable architecture, every detail counts. All components of the NORTEC® system are completely harmless to people and the environment. As low-emission materials, our solutions score highly in green building certification processes (LEED, BREEAM), making them the ideal choice for public buildings.
Craftsmanship: A synergy of experts
We began work after the concrete slab had fully cured (28 days). The base for our finish was prepared by Dima Posadzki Przemysłowe from Katowice, which laid the surface-hardened concrete with artisanal precision. Using diamond polishing technology, our team brought out the very best in this base:
- High hardness and low porosity: Guaranteed resistance to heavy foot traffic.
- Extremely low roughness: This results in a mirror-like reflection of light and minimal cleaning costs (no need for harsh chemicals).
- Instant readiness: The entire project took just three days, and the floor was ready for use immediately after the final cleaning.
Result: Timeless aesthetics
The finished floor at the Environmental Education Center proves that polished concrete can be a sophisticated finishing material that blends perfectly with wood, glass, and minimalist architecture.
